7Questions“Quality questions create a quality life. Successful people ask better questions, and as a result, they get better answers.” — Tony Robbins

What questions do you ask yourself on a daily basis?

Are they questions that will empower you to move forward… or convince you to stay stuck?

You don’t necessarily need a life coach, therapist, or a mentor to assist you in the work of transforming your life. Take the 7 questions below, ask yourself the questions, and answer them in a journal IN your own handwriting at least once a week and notice how your life changes.

Remember the words of Dr. Wayne Dyer:

When you change the way you look at things, the things you look at change…

7 Questions That Will Change Your Life:

  1. Who do you have to become to have all that you want?
  2. What is the next right thing for you?
  3. How am I going to live today to create the tomorrow I’m committed to?
  4. If you approach this with courage, how could your life change?
  5. Who would you be without the thought?
  6. How can you have BOTH?
  7. If you weren’t scared, what would you do?

Question #1: Who do you have to become to have all that you want?

This is a powerful life coaching question. Far too often, we focus on what we want or need but all of that is prefaced by who we’d have to become to be the person capable of achieving those goals or dreams.

When you answer this question, be really specific about who you’d have to become.

What time does this person wake up?

What are his or her core beliefs?

How does this person operate throughout the day?

What does this version of you do that you aren’t currently doing?

A great exercise is to journal “A day in the life of my future self.” Pull out a journal and write down, from the perspective of having already achieved all of your goals, what your average day looks like as well as your overall outlook and perspective on the world.

Write from the viewpoint of the person you want to become. Do it in your own handwriting. Once you’ve done that, challenge yourself to play the “role” of that version of you for the next 72 hours and see what happens.

Remember: The YOU you want to become is already inside of you.

Question #2: What is the next right thing for you?

This question gives your intuition room to speak. In the middle of a life storm, it can be so easy to forget that you still have the power to choose. How you respond to a circumstance is completely up to you. Rather than give in to worry, stress, or panic, stop and ask yourself, “What is the next right thing for me?” Your intuition will speak pretty quickly.

Question #3: How am I going to live today to create the tomorrow I’m committed to?

This question comes from Tony Robbin’s book Awaken the Giant Within. It’s a powerful question you can ask every morning. This question will guide how you run your day, what you get accomplished during your week and how you live your life.

Here’s the reality: Today creates tomorrow. This question will keep that fact front and center. The future you get is the life you’re creating in this very moment. Choose wisely…

Question #4: If you approach this with courage, how could your life change?

Most of the mistakes we make in life occur when we give fear permission to be in the driver’s seat. When you can take a step back from fear, pause and consider what the courageous version of you would do, you quickly find other options. Life looks very different when courage is leading the way. Rather than focusing on all the things that are going wrong or on all of the things that won’t work, ask yourself this question and play out the scene where you take on whatever challenge you face KNOWING that you can and will find a resolution.

Your life changes the moment you know you’re responsible for changing it.

Question #5: Who would you be without the thought?

Based on The Work by Byron Katie, this is one of four questions that Katie asks when she coaches people through major life issues. The four questions (1-Is it true? 2- Can you absolutely know that it’s true? 3- How do you react, what happens, when you believe that thought? 4- Who would you be without the thought?) helps to dismantle the “stories” we tell ourselves. This is a powerful process that’s best seen in action. Here’s a great video showcasing how Katie coaches someone through The Work → CLICK HERE TO WATCH.

Question #6: How can you have BOTH?

Most of us were raised with the Either/Or mentality (“Rob Peter to pay Paul”). We walk through life waiting for the other shoe to drop. If one part of our lives is working, the other has to suffer, right? Wrong.

One of the simplest way to change this sacrificial lamb mentality lies in asking a question that forces you out of it: “How can I have BOTH?” You’ll feel baffled the first time you ask it. It may take you a long amount of time to come up with a solid answer. However, this question is a great way to help you figure out how to have this AND that, whatever this and that may be. At the end of the day, here’s what’s true: You CAN have BOTH…

Question #7: If you weren’t scared, what would you do?

This question allows you to temporarily take fear out of the equation. In this way, you’re able to distance yourself from the irrational thoughts that may be clouding your judgment, focus on being your most powerful self, and make decisions without feeling limited to the current, temporary circumstances that are holding you back. While fearlessness may not be real, making decisions without a heavy influence of fear is a powerful way to take inspired, positive action.

The above 7 questions have the power to change your life.

There’s only one thing you have to do to activate transformation:

Use them… often.
